The Adoption Home Study describes you, your health, your home, your background, education, career, financial status, and ideas about raising children. The home visit takes between 3 and 6 hours depending on how many people are in your household. The Home Study forms part of your dossier and includes an assessment and recommendation of you as adoptive parents. The report is based upon the information you give in your questionnaire and during the home study visit. The Report can usually be ready in draft form a few weeks after the home visit. The report can be put into final form after your agency has seen it and after all of your documentation has been received. When you make a home study appointment, USAdopt will email you all of the preparation materials you will require, and will work closely with your adoption agency to ensure that all requirements are met.
