USAdopt was founded in 1990 by Christine Deering. Christine lived, studied and worked in the USA for 11 years before moving back to Europe. From the outset, her focus has been on providing for American families and those of other nationalities a personal and individually tailored Pre- and Post-Adoption social work service. This includes Pre-adoption Consultation, Education and Counselling, the Adoption Home Study, and Post-Placement services. USAdopt does not place children. We work with a variety of American Adoption Agencies who are experienced and comfortable in working with Americans and others who live abroad. Christine is an International Adoption Social Worker who received her Master of Social Work degree from Arizona State University. She is licensed in the District of Columbia, USA and also holds the NASW Advanced Diploma in Social Work. She also practices Social Work in England (GSCC Registered), and in Ireland (NSWQB Registered), and in addition, she is a BPC Registered Psychotherapist with many years of clinical experience in Employee Assistance Counselling, Private Practice and in the British National Health Service. Christine has specialised in Training and Assessment, for which she has additional qualifications, and has taught and supervised trainees in Social Work, Medicine, Psychology, Psychotherapy, and Counselling. Christine is permanently based in England and travels widely to provide Adoption Social Work Services to US Civilian and Military Families, and Prospective Adoptive Parents from any other country which allows them to use the American adoption system. She is three times past President of the American National Association of Social Workers, International branch. USAdopt
also has a small bureau of Associate Social Workers who work with families
from time to time, all of whom are well qualified and highly experienced
in adoption work. USAdopt’s
standards are high. We do not use unqualified consultants, nor do we carry
out home studies by telephone.
